How to organize a closet is one of those little things at home that does not get much attention. Yes, that is a fact. The main reason, perhaps, is that closet organization is one chore that is so unappealing to many household owners. Call it human nature or what, but staying organized can just be too tiresome for a normal mindset to adjust or get used to. But really, this is one chore which could save some hassles at home thereby making life at home a bit easier. With this, let me share two (2) tips which I have used and shared to my friends and relatives. Believe me, these tips, even though they are so simple as compared to other closet organization ideas, really helps. Taking the time to heed the tips below may just make that dreaded effort to have the closet organized be simple, quick and with satisfying results.

1. Start From Scratch.

In quite a few occasions, haven’t you noticed that in order for you to make something done right, it would be much easier for you if you start over again? That can be true in many cases. It would be much easier to start from scratch rather than try to do the corrections from within the something that needs to be corrected in several places.

This also holds true when it comes to closet organizing. It would be a great help if you are going to start dealing with a bare closet. Starting with a bare closet can be much easier to work with as opposed to trying to tidy things up in there with all those stuffs already inside. Not only that, by not starting from a bare closet, there is good chance that many things inside the closet may end up being tossed here and there. Even with the use of your favorite closet organizers, not starting from scratch might make the whole process be messy, tiresome and even frustrating.

Hence, the first step you should do is simply to empty your closet until it is bare even if it is only a portable wardrobe closet. This way, one can have thorough visual perception on what you would do with the bare spaces in front of you not to mention that you will have a good place to start with.

2. Don’t Forget The List.

A list of something to do can be one very useful guide. Making a list keeps everything in mind get recorded which makes most details accounted for. Relying on one’s memory won’t help much as it would be so easy to get distracted. This, in turn, will make one forget the things which had been in mind before. Take the scenario wherein one is packing his or her things for a trip. By not preparing a list on what to bring along, there will be a fair chance that something will be forgotten or fail to make it to the luggage….which you swore you had it in your mind. That’s normal, no human memory is perfect. Hence, a list can balance out that imperfection.

With this, try to make a list of the things you would want to place inside the closet. From there, you could then associate those things with their proper place. By starting with a list, you could then gauge if all those things you have listed would all fit inside the closet. Think of it as stuffing your standard reach-in closet or just a portable closet in a virtual manner and in accordance to your custom closet organization style. Sounds easier than trying to put all those things inside and then find out that all the things you had in mind will not fit. I don’t know about you, but in my case, I think I’d blow my nerves.

There you go. The above-mentioned rather simple tips on how to organize a closet may sound and look trivial. But if one would just take a little effort in following them, they might just be the tips you will ever need to organize your closet after all.

Closet organization is a chore which tends to adapt with the changes of the seasons. Unless you have got a very sizable closet that could fit all of your clothing and gears for every season, then you might not have a problem with your closet space. However, not everyone has this luxury of a closet. There are many household closets which are just average in size and could hold no more than a single season’s clothing and accessories especially with winter garments which tend to be very bulky.

Hence, here are some few closet organization ideas and tips which might do the job in an easy manner:

1) Prepare rigid boxes. In most cases, at least 3 average size boxes would suffice. These boxes will be used to put your out of season clothes into. Cardboard boxes will do fine only that they have to be placed on a dry place and away from moisture. These boxes can easily be purchased at any local hardware or even at department stores. To make things a bit easier, keep a marking pen handy for labeling the boxes.

2) Sift through your clothes and gears inside the closet and choose which one you will use for the entire season. Do not be tempted to keep most of your favorite clothing only to realize at the end of the season that you have not worn them at all. Or you may find that you have wasted so much space on your closet organizer. Think of it just like going on a trip where you only take the clothes and gear you will need for the entire duration of your trip.

3) Group the clothing you have chosen for the season. Group together those garments that need to be hanged and those that need to be put inside the closet drawers. One notable advantage of this is that it would be much easier to look for things when you need them.

4) Group the out of season garments and clothing and nicely tuck them inside the boxes you have provided. Light clothing should be grouped together while heavy clothing such as fluffy winter jackets or coats should also be stashed together in the same box. Shoes can also be grouped together in a single box but it would be best to clean them first before putting them inside the boxes.

5) It would be best to wrap the boxes with clear plastic in order to prevent bugs and insects from going inside the box as well as prevent moisture from getting into the box.

These closet organization ideas and tips may look too cumbersome for some people to execute. However, they might just be the tips that might matter when it comes to making your closet look very organized and uncluttered for every season of the year.

Closet organizing is one dreaded task for many people young and old alike. Not that it is a task that is impossible to do but there are just many reasons for not being able to do it. For some people, it is a sizable chore to start with. There are also some who just would not want to stress themselves out when it comes to organizing their things in the closet. However though, with the busy life at work and the hectic demands that office work would bring day in and day out, some people just could not find the time nor energy to even get started with closet organization. But whatever the reasons, there are people who are willing to do it for you – for a fee, of course. This is where the professional closet organizers come in. They fill in the void created by those who do not want to do it themselves and by those who simply do not have enough time to do some organizing tasks for their closet.

Engaging the services of a professional closet organizer is akin to just outsourcing the job. Think of it like hiring a wedding planner or organizer wherein you just get to pay the bills and make the most important decisions with regards to the job and tasks to be accomplished. These professionals are highly skilled and can usually fathom what you want to be done and how you want it to be done. Hiring their services is one good way to evade the hassles of getting things organized. However though, one should be prepared to pay the cost of their services. They do not come cheap but the rewards could be exceptional and worth the cost.

Looking for a competent and reliable professional closet organizer is not a daunting task. With the advent of the internet, one could easily browse the web and search for the most promising ones. One good place to look for them is the website of the National Association Of Professional Organizers or NAPO. Sifting through the pages of the website can lead you to a good bunch of professionals and it would then be up to you whom you would want to get in contact with and then make your choices. Another good place to look for is the plain old local yellow pages. Keep in mind that many of these pros would charge by the hour. It may range from $60 per hour for up to a whooping $200 per hour. However, there are also some who may charge for the whole service package and it would just be up to you to decide and negotiate which way to go. Keep in mind that an expensive professional closet organizer does not necessarily mean quality.

How many times have you experienced this scenario? You come home with a new garment and want to hang it up in a special place in your closet to keep it looking just as nice as it did in the store. However, when you open your closet, not only do you not see one single extra hanger, there’s no room to hang your new garment even if you did have an extra hanger or have utilized closet organizers. There are two solutions. You can either get rid of some of your clothes or buy a set of space saving hangers. Joy Mangano Huggable Hangers should fit the bill.

You may be wondering how placing hangers in your closet could possible create more space. The answer is that if you remove all your old mismatched hangers and replace them with a set of Huggable Hangers, you will save a tremendous amount of space in your closet. Some say thirty to fifty percent. This extra space can then be used to hang more clothes. But how do space saving hangers achieve this?

The way that space saving Huggable Hangers save space is that they are about a third of the thickness of standard plastic hangers and even thinner as compared to heavy wood hangers. Since they were designed to sit nicely together in your closet, they don’t waste space like mismatched hangers waste because they are all different sizes and therefore create pockets of space where nothing will fit. Think of it this way. If you had a kitchen cupboard filled with bowls of all different sizes that you could not stack inside each other, each bowl would need it’s own space on the shelf. If you could stack them all inside each other, you could fit 5 bowls all in the same space as one by using the height between the shelves. The same is true of hangers. When they don’t sit nicely next to each other due to their differing shapes then each one takes up its own space and you use up the room in your closet very quickly.

So before you bring home your next new garment to a closet with no room to hang it up, invest in a set of Joy Mangano Huggable Hangers. You’ll be glad that you did.

Closet organization can be a way of life. A disorganized life is a chaotic life. Chaos can lead to stress in your home, which only makes things worse. Organizing all areas of your life does not mean cleaning up the main part of each room and stuffing every loose end into the closet. Keeping your closet organized will allow you to find things easily and stay on track. Closet organizers can be essential tools if you want to keep your closets in good shape.

As some may already know, a closet organizer is a structure that is placed in your closet or wardrobe. It creates more usable space to store whatever you need. You can build wooden closet organizers, or you can put in pre-assembled wire structures. Either way, you should make sure the dimensions will fit your requirements and preferences.

Organize what you will be putting in the closet in a large room first. Take an inventory about how much stuff you have of certain sizes. This will make sure you make the right space available. For example, you will have different types of items in your bedroom closet than your hall closet. You may need more shelving for towels and other items in the hallway and fewer shelves and more hanging rods for clothes in your bedroom.

If you think you still can’t fit all your stuff in your closet, you do have a dilemma. The best thing to do is to get rid of stuff. You should do that even if you think you can fit everything in there. There is no reason to have more stuff than you need. Go through everything and ask yourself a few questions about each item. Have you used it within the last year? Did you remember you had it? Is it yours? Can you use it anymore? If you answered no to any or all of these questions, you should get rid of it.

When you have your wire closet organizer set up or the wood shelving built in, refill your closet. Be organized about how you fit it in. Make it easy to find things later when you need them and put them back easily. Then, enjoy a less messy home and closet. Closet organization is not so hard to do with consistency. Once you have already adapted to it, then it becomes part of your life and you can apply the basic principles in many other aspects of life. The best part is, you get to enjoy the benefits of living in an organized home environment.

All of us are constantly striving to save ourselves time throughout the day. Most often than not, one of the busiest times is first thing in the morning as we prepare for work or school or simply plan their day ahead. To make this time of day less stressful you need to be organized and closet organizers are an excellent place to start. One very good thing about these closet aids is that they can usually be installed without the need for special skills. Most designs and styles are the closet organizers do it yourself types. Popular DIY organizers are those from Closetmaid. As long as you know how to use a screwdriver and take some very simple measurements, you can already pull it off without much huffing and puffing.

One notable advantage brought about by using them is that the closet will no longer appear chaotic, nor be an embarrassment, and it will also save you precious minutes in the morning. For example, instead of having to wade through piles of clothes eventually to find the item you are looking for, it will be hanging neatly in full view. It will also require less secondary ironing as it will have been carefully stored and stacked neatly inside the closet area.

There are many items available to help with your closet storage and every conceivable space should be utilized.

Initially, it is important to assess your needs. Ask yourself how much space you need for long clothes, for example dresses, how much for short clothes such as jackets and how many shelves and drawers you may need.

However, many people forget that they can also make good use of the floor space. Shoe racks are an excellent example of utilizing floor space whilst still maintaining a neat and tidy appearance.

Tie racks can also be a good way to hang all your ties in one place and make them easily visible at a glance. In addition, shelf space, and drawer space, can be maximized with the use of dividers to segregate various items of clothing neatly.

For extra hanging space, you can even add specific devices that attach to the top of the closet door, thus providing you with an extension to your existing hanging space.

In a nutshell, there are really many things you can do to really upgrade your closet space with the use of do it yourself closet organizers thereby creating a neat appearance and saving you time.

For people who have a messy closet area in their home, the closet organizer systems can be beneficial to use. These systems come with various types of closet dividers and compartments to help keep all your items neat and orderly. They are great for helping organize bedroom closets because they can provide areas for items that need to be hung and items than can be stored on a shelf. You may even choose to use the pieces for storing shoes and accessories such as ties and belts. The closet organizers can be purchased as separate items you install yourself, or as a custom created piece designed by a professional.

Using these specially designed storage boxes and compartments can reduce the amount of clutter in a closet. They work well for closets located in general living areas such as a family room. The shelving units can keep games, puzzles and books neatly organized so they are easy to find when you need them. You can even purchase special drawer organizers, which will allow you to organize the drawers filled with clutter often found in the kitchen. The plastic storage boxes you can purchase will also help keep stored garments free from mold and mildew.

The designs used in the professionally styled closets are generally created to be modern in appearance. If you are in the process of having a new home built you can incorporate the custom closet pieces into the design of your new home. This will eliminate having to install them later. Whether you choose the custom designs, or the pieces you place yourself, the system is guaranteed to make any closet more visually appealing and much easier to use.

Knowing how to organize your closet can bring in many advantages that can benefit you in one way or another. One notable advantage is that you get to save time. While the amount of time that can be saved may be trivial or minimal in some situations, there will be many instances that they will count a lot and may also be necessary. Think about a scenario where you are already rushing to find that suit or accessory needed for an urgent meeting. Unfortunately, many closet owners do not give it much importance to most closet organization matters. There are so many things that you can do to improve the look and the functional aspects of your closet. Nobody likes searching for certain items of clothing when they are rushing in the morning, and we have all suffered the embarrassment of friends seeing our unsightly and chaotic closets. The way to avoid this is through closet organization.

The amount of time that can be saved simply by coordinating in a systematic way can be remarkable; learning how to get your closet organized is something that should not be taken for granted. Believe me, you will get a big benefit out of it. With that being said, hereunder are some tips which can help you in many ways.

Initially, you can add drawer and shelf dividers. This will mean that all the smaller items such as socks and underclothes are carefully stored in one area and easily accessible. Consequently, you will not have to search through entire drawers simply to find one sock.

Another useful addition for both males and females is the tie rack. Whilst this is obviously a place for men to neatly hang all their ties in one area, many women find them useful to store scarves and belts.

For the modern couple there are even cap racks so that all your baseball caps can be hung neatly against the side of the closet making it much easier to select the required cap.

Another way to really create more space is to add a shoe rack to the bottom. It is amazing how much time is spent searching for one lone shoe, which could have been much better spent getting on with your day.

Not being able to find specific items of clothing, food, or other household items can become expensive. It is a common scenario wherein one just decides to purchase additional items, simply because the item already purchased was just too hard to find. This can be a total waste and it won’t be a frugal decision especially when the budget is of primary concern.
The kitchen pantry can be fitted to use a closet organizer. Most households eat at least one meal at home. Non-perishable food items like cereal, grains, herbs, and canned goods usually help create most home cooked meals. Having food items where they are easily seen in a pantry can help prevent ordering expensive take out and buying unnecessary food items.

Custom closet designs often contain several seasons of clothing, shoes, and accessories. Keeping clothing at eye level is important. Like items can be folded and placed on shelved within the closet organizer system. Most people wear a small amount of the clothes they own regularly. With that, using some suitable closet organizers can help keep the clothes visible. In addition, clothes not worn as often can be stored in labeled clear storage boxes or in cubbyholes.

Family rooms often house the home office for bill paying, craft supplies, family movies, and games. Leisure activities are rarely cheap. Many families have thousands of dollars invested into home entertainment items.

Organized closets help to make multi-use rooms more functional. Being able to see where everything is help to make hobby and family time more enjoyable.

Investing in closet organizer tools is a cost effective way to maximize the things that are purchased for the household. Costs can be recovered over time by not buying duplicate things that simply were lost in storage areas that were unorganized. Not only that, getting to learn the essential organization principles by consistent usage of closet organizing systems will definitely benefit you in long term as you get to apply it also to other aspects of your life.

Quite surprisingly, there are lots of people who do not have the inclination to learn some simple organizing skills and they may be losing out on something advantageous to their respective homes.

Choosing A Closet Storage Organizer for Improved Storage

Although it is not rocket science, there are certain things that you need to consider when you are shopping for suitable organizer systems for your closet. Here are some factors worth taking into account:

The number of clothes you own- The more of these you have, the larger space you will need so you might as well pick something that can maximize whatever area you have available in your room. Closet organizer sets do come in various sizes which makes it quite easy to find something that is best fitted for your closet area.

Type of clothing- Are you the outdoors type with all the hiking or mountain climbing ensemble? Or are you the Wall Street type who frequently wears suits? These things matter a lot since you would want a space where your nice things will not get wrinkled.

Number of Shoes, Ties, and Other Accessories – For women, especially those who have the Carrie Bradshaw syndrome, it is advisable to choose something which could accommodate all the shoes without crowding the entire closet space.

Cost – There are some very good and efficient closet organizer systems that do not cost more than $100. However, if you want the really good ones that really maximize space and allow a very easy system to prevail, you might have to spend just a few extra hundred dollars for higher end closet organizers. These useful aids can be readily bought at major hardware and home improvement stores such as Lowe’s.

The trick is in the quality and cost comparison. You can also find great bargains online especially at stores that offer great merchandise at a reduced price. It is quite easy to find these organizers online, you just have to look in the right places and be able to choose according to what you really need.
